Kinnaur kailash Yatra and Yula Kanda trek Overview

Kinner Kailash trek is a popular pilgrimage and trekking destination in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It's considered a moderately challenging trek, involving high altitude, varied terrain, and potential for rapid weather changes. The trek generally involves hiking from Tangling village to Parvati Kund and then to the Kinner Kailash Shivling, a sacred rock pillar. 


Yulla Kanda a home to the world’s highest Shri Krishna Temple. This sacred pilgrimage site offers stunning views of the Himalayas. Located in the picturesque Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, at an impressive altitude of 12,778 feet, making it the highest of its kind in the world.


Kinnaur Kailash Trek Difficulty Level

KInnaur Kailash

  • Total Trek aprox distance 20 km
  • Hight 15,800 ft
  • Endurance – Difficult 

Yula Kanda

  • Total Trek aprox distance 10 km
  • Hight 12,000 ft
  • Endurance – Moderate 

Day 1 – 9 Aug

  • Report Chandigarh bus stand by 4 pm
  • Board bus to Rikongpio (Bus @ 5.30 pm Or 6.00 pm)

Day 2 – 10 Aug

  • Get down at Tangling village stop (10 km before Rikongpio) by 6 am
  • Freshen up and rest
  • If we get permission, then Start trek to Ganesh park
  • Rest in Tent

Day 3 – 11 Aug – Buffer day

Day 4 – 12 Aug

  • Ganesh Park to Kinnaur Kailash (trek start by 2 am)
  • Kinnaur Kailash summit and descent
  • Reach Ganesh Park 
  • Rest

Day 5 – 13 Aug

  • Ganesh Park to Tangling village
  • Rest

Day 6 – 14 Aug

  • Tangling to Tapri Village to Yula Khas village
  • Start trek to Yula Kanda, Summit and descend to Yula Khas
  • Rest

Day 7 – 15 Aug - Buffer day

Day 8 - 16 Aug

  • Tapri Village to Simla
  • Rest

Day 9 – 17 Aug

  • Simla to Chandigarh
  • Fly back to Mumbai Or Board train to your hometown


Note: The above plan is based on an “Ideal” scenario where everything goes per plan & considering that there is no breakdown. It is subject to change in Real Time based on ground realities.

  • Backpack & Rain Cover (40-60 Litres)
  • Trekking Shoes

  • Fleece & Down Jacket
  • 2 Thermal Layers (Upper & lower)
  • Trek pants (one Wear and one carry)
  • Two collared t-shirts

  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen Lotion (SPF 50/70)
  • Lip Balm (SPF 30)
  • Sun cap
  • Synthetic hand gloves
  • Two pair of Socks
  • Raincoat/Ponchos

  • Daypack (20 liters), if you opt to offload your backpack
  • Toiletries
  • Cutlery
  • Plastic carry bag (for wet clothes)


  • Consumption of alcohol, Drugs, Narcotics is strictly banned on the event & should lead to expulsion from the trek
  • The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No arguments will be entertained
  • Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage
  • Please do not wear any jewellery or gold chains/rings
  • Please do not litter, we believe in the saying, “Wherever you go, leave only your footprints and take back only memories.”

Disclaimer:
Hiking / Trekking / Rock climbing is an adventurous activity and accidents can happen in spite of taking utmost caution and care. The organization will not be responsible for any injury / accident / death to the participant while on trek.
Medical Disclaimer:
It is Important to be physically fit while on treks. If suffering from any allergy or ailment, please bring prescribed medicines to prevent serious health problem including heatstroke, severe headache, cough, dehydration and hypothermia. Participants suffering from chronic conditions like asthma bronchitis, blood pressure, migraine, diabetes etc. should take permission from their physicians before treks.
